Ottawa Sportsmen's Club News
from Jon Henkel, OSC Black Powder Match Chairman
International Black Powder Matches, April
April Score:
Canadians 239-3X
Baraga (USA) 233-1X
Next Match is May 3rd at OSC, starting at 11 AM EDT. All are
welcome.
The Baraga Blackpowder Bunch shooting at the Ottawa Sportsmen's
Club and a Canadian Club from Sudbury (the Sudbury Voyageurs
Muzzle Loading Rifle Club) conduct a postal match for
muzzleloaders. This means that the Baraga group at OSC is
participating in an International shooting event.
The postal shoot works this way: Three targets were designed by
the Baraga shoot coordinator (Henkel) and three targets were
designed by the Canadian coordinator (Ron Morrison). The Baraga
group shoots its target on the 1st Saturday the each month from
January through June as part of the group’s monthly shoots at
OSC. As you recall, we shoot about 18 shots at our shoots. Six
of the eighteen shots are on the paper targets designed for
the postal match. The Sudbury group shoots its targets on the
1st Sunday of each month for the same period.
Ron Morrison sends me the group’s top five targets. I score all
of the Baraga group’s targets and the five Canadian targets.
The top five scores from each club are pitted against each
other to determine a winning team. Every shooter who
participated in the shoot is considered 'on the team'. However,
only the top five from Baraga are counted against the
Canadians. The reason for the top five only counters is because
the two clubs do not necessarily have the same number of
shooters each month. So far this year the results are as
follows, winners in Bold:
